Skills 4, one of the UK’s leading consultancies in diversity and inclusion initiatives. The company was established in 2006, by the current MD Jayne Little, in response to issues identified in the government-commissioned Report, ‘Shaping a Fairer Future’.
The author of that report, Baroness Prosser – OBE and former Chair of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission – chaired a steering group that successfully delivered Skills 4 programmes into the UK engineering and advanced manufacturing sectors to address the skills shortages faced due to the lack of retention and progression of women.
Over the last twelve years, we have been working successfully with over 100 leading organisations to improve the attraction, retention and progression of a diverse and sustainable workforce.
Initially focussing on gender diversity, our multiple award-winning Career Development Programme for Women has been delivered to over 8,000 individuals. In recent years, the company has evolved alongside changes in legislation and UK business culture and now covers multiple strands of diversity through unconscious bias training and testing; inclusive leadership and management programmes and bespoke training and consultancy services.

Career Development Programme for Women.
Our award-winning Career Development Programme has been designed to help women further their careers. The programme is now in its eighth year and has already helped over 4,000 women advance professionally.
The programme is normally delivered over three months. By the end of the final training session:
- 97% of participants had a more proactive approach to career progression
- 88% had higher levels of self-confidence
- 58% had taken on more responsibility within their role and 18% had already taken on a new role
